We stayed 2 nights at the cabin. It was great find and the hosts were exceptional. The cabin was beautiful and the surroundings quiet. We enjoyed watching the deer and turkey wander around the cabin grounds. It was very well equipped for the traveler. The bear spray that was provided for hiking was great to have. The binder containing the local information was a great help. The owners are very helpful with suggests about what to do, too. We have traveled to the West on many occasions and, by far, this was the best place we have found. For the price, it was the best value. We feel we now have friends in Montana. We plan on visiting again. We highly recommend to anyone that this is a great place to stay for a quiet, relaxing vacation.

My wife and I needed to escape from the day-to-day life of Calgary and we found it a short 4 hour drive away. The Bullet Hole Cabin and the West Kootenai was the vacation we needed. The cabin had all of the essentials we needed to cook and live comfortably along with the fact that it was tucked away well off of the beaten path. It was nice to be back in a place where you can hear the wind through the trees as opposed to cars and planes. Thanks to Don and Carolyn for their hospitality and we look forward to returning.

If you are looking for peace and quiet right in the middle of the most amazing place in Montana, this is the cabin to rent. Surrounded by the Kootenai National Forest and set right on Lake Koocanusa, there is so much to do! Returning to this beautiful cabin each evening to cook a nice meal & rest - this place has it all! Very clean, well-equipped and very gracious hosts! Surrounded by wildlife - a must visit!

The Bullet Hole Cabin is located in the most beautiful and remote area of Montana. Carolyn and Don and their family are outstanding hosts and are helpful in providing detailed information on the local sights and activities. The cabin is immaculate and well-stocked with supplies - they have thought of every detail, right down to extra toiletries and even drink coolers for daytme excursions/picnics at the lake! The nearby convenience store came in handy and the drive into Eureka is only about 30 minutes. This is a wonderful vacation destination for a family - our two children can't wait to return next year to the Bullet Hole Cabin. The children loved seeing the wildlife, deer, moose, and elk and the fishing was great. The West Kootenai area is the best kept secret in Montana!

"Great Cabin with a Beautiful Lake! (Calgary, Alberta Canada)
This cabin is well-located on the west side of the Koocanusa Lake, about 5 km south of the Canadian border. Very convenient for Canadians to go to. The cabin is just awesome. Everything is in there and if something is missing, your hosts will be happy to help you. Very quiet location and beautiful wildlife, even during our dinners on the patio! Access to the lake via a quiet beach is 5-10 min away Can't wait to go back!

What a fabulous time we had! We found a wonderfully clean and full outfitted cabin, far exceeding the description in the advertisement. Our hosts were available and not overcrowding; incredibly helpful with suggestions and fabulous people to talk to and get to know! The surroundings were breathtaking! So much to do and we definitely did not have time to do it all! We would come back in a second! I would recommend this proprety to anyone who loves the outdoors and loves a quiet holiday!

When we first arrived, a mama deer and her two babies were in the back yard of the cabin. Quite a site to see! We also saw eight turkeys and numerous other birds. We appreciate the time we have been able to spend here. This is truly a wonderful place to call home.

This was our first time out West and we were blown away. Glacier National Park, Lake Koocanusa, and the Kootenai Forest were all absolutely amazing places to explore. We had a wondeful long weekend staying in this terrific cabin! Carolyn & Don were great hosts, supplying us with everything we may need and creating exceptional information binders. We enjoyed an Amish dinner at the local store/restaurant as well as bbq's on the back deck with meats bought at a butcher shop in Eureka. The weather was great so we were excited to spend time on both front and back decks while watching deer meander the property. The Little North Fork Falls, Webb Lookout Hike, and Sandy Hill Beach were highlights of the trip showcasing the area's beauty. It was a relaxing weekend and we would recommend this getaway. Can't wait to go back!

Our family hated to leave this mountain escape. There is a lot to do in the area, however, we had a hard time leaving the solitude of the back porch. Just a great place to get away from it all. And, the owners haven't overlooked anything from the cleanliness of the cabin to directions to the nearest waterfall to extra hair conditioner. Stress was a minimum.

Our stay at the Bullet Hole Cabin was wonderful! We enjoyed hiking, the wildlife, and the peace and quiet. Don & Carolyn are great hosts. They gave us the run down when we got there and then disappeared. They were available when we needed something, but were totally unobtrusive. The cabin itself is very nice, clean, and cozy. They have stocked it well with those little items you tend to forget. Definitely plan on returning!

Out stay was absolutely wonderful. The cabin is spacious, clean, and in a beautiful location. Our 5-year-old won & 2-year-old daughter loved going out on the back deck and watching the deer just hanging out in the yard. The grill came in handy, as did the ice chest. Just be careful if you're driving at night, in case a clumsy, young moose, decides to go for a 10-minute-jog right in front of your car! Don & Carolyn provide 5-star accomodations at a 2-star price!

We stayed 3 nights and wanted to stay longer. We spent the first 3 days of our vacation in Whitefish and visited Glacier - it was beautiful, but we loved the peacefulness of the cabin and the area surrounding it. The cabin is beautiful. You can see the main cabin from the front porch, but the back porch off the kitchen is private and surrounded by trees and the smell of pine. We picked up some steaks in Eureka and planned on going back for more food, but didn't want to leave once we got there. The information proivded includes all the trails in the area. They can take a while to get there (plan on 1/2 hour or so), we wished we had more time to explore the area. We didn't see any bear but were thankful for the bear spray and bug spray provided. There's a nearby beach that is beautiful too. We highly recommend this great place.

After our friendly greeting, we had everything we would want in the cabin ... including an awesome information book - with lots of information about the area. 5 minute drive to the beach at Lake Koocanusa, an uncrowded stretch of beach (we had a bbq picnic for dinner 2 nights!! The local store was great for fresh bread & groceries. Cabin had all the amenities, including bbq, dishwasher, washer & dryer. Attention to detail was evident by the owners. The area is a quiet community, with a bit of a drive to the "city" in Eureka (30 minutes). If you're looking for a relaxing getaway - this is the place for you!

My husband and I had a wonderful vacation at this cabin, located in a remote, quiet area of Montana - exactly what we were looking for: "An escape." Stars and moon were clearly visible; no traffic noise. Each day wild turkey and deer passed through the property - very peaceful. We spent lots of time relaxing on the front porch and enjoying our grilled dinners on the back deck. We hiked the nearby forest trails and drove to Glacier National Park. The cabin was sparkling clean and comfortably furnished and had everything you could possibly need. The owners are friendly and very helpful (even compiling a notebook with guides and maps of the area.). This is a great cabin to just kick back and relax and enjoy nature. We've put this place on our list of places we hope to return. (We came back for a second visit in 2012, third visit in 2013, and have booked already for 2014!

This was a great holiday for my son and I. The cabin owners were so helpful with having maps to sites that we would have never found on our own. Thank you for all of your hard work. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The surroundings were beautiful with rivers, waterfalls, and bush. There is no doubt that we as a family will return as I want my wife and daughter to enjoy this as well. Don & Carolyn have left no stone unturned in making this the most memorable stay we have ever had anywhere. We have stayed in many, many bed and breakfasts and cabins. This is the "PERFECT" getaway. Attention is given to every detail. This cabin just exudes warmth and hospitality throughout and is so clean and comfortable. It is truly beyond words. We so loved sitting on the back porch in the mornings and evenings, sipping our hot cup of coffee, watching the deer chase each other around the meadow. Hot, hot darling showers and perfect beds, two of the biggest things I look for. All the comforts of home and little baskets that are filled with more than just the little standard forgotten items. We even had a welcome basket in the kitchen with a jar of homemade jam, chocolates and wonderful huckleberry taffy. It is evident that these two were made for this type of business and excel in every way. Any time we happen to be in the area, we will definitely make this our stopover!
